Bedford, Canada Gateway Homes Full time

**Full Time Evening Residential Support Worker **required to join a staff team, assisting an individual with intellectual disabilities in a home environment and in the community.

40 hours per week (11 p.m. - 7 a.m.) and may include weekends. Hours of work will also include occasional active shifts during the day for the purpose of evaluation, building relationships and cohesiveness with the staff team.

**Salary**: As per the Collection Agreement $21.79 - $23.62 per hour plus shift premium $2.35/hr for evenings and weekends and 4% vacation pay.

This position is eligible for group benefit and pension plans.

Must be able to commute to Bedford.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Essential Skills - Strong oral and written communication skills, working with others, problem solving, empathy, planning and organizing, meal preparation, and ability to do tasks to maintain a household and assist adults with personal and social needs.

Staff must share the philosophy of being with, not doing for." Enjoy being with and working with people who have developmental disabilities, believing that they have an important contribution to make to society and that they can enrich the lives of others. Have the desire and capacity to support them in ways that will enhance their personal growth, build community supports and develop relationships.

Ability to work in situations of potentially high stress with maturity to absorb tension. Can regulate their own emotions and behaviour when supporting individuals in heightened states of anxiety and crisis.

Education: Completion of post secondary training in a related field (1-2 year minimum) 1-2 years experience working with persons with disabilities. Volunteer experience an asset.

Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check required.

Bargaining unit employees and external applicants will be concurrently assessed.

Applicants must provide proof that they are legally able to work in Canada.
