Material Handler

SUMMARY

Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies for Ottawa site.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verifying and accepting incoming parts and materials and logging them into a computerized system.
- Labelling and dispatching of delivered goods.
- Assisting in the pick/pack activity associated with fulfilment of customer orders.
- Assuring the customer specific requirements for special packaging needs, traceability and test data are met.
- Properly store raw materials, consumable and finished goods inventory according to technical specifications.
- Maintaining accurate records of inventory movements within a computerized system
- Co-ordinating internal shipping activity according to the timely needs of the production groups.
- Participating actively in compliance with customs requirements and quality certifications (ISO).
- Assisting in all areas of warehouse and order fulfilment as required
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area on a regular basis
- Makes routine decisions affecting own work area and refers unusual decisions or questions that have an affect outside of own work area to Lead Hand/Supervisor.
- Loading & Un-loading of freight using forklifts

- Complies with the company’s vision, fundamentals, policies and procedures
- Performs other tasks as assigned by management
SKILLS
- Minimum two years commensurate experience coupled with a high school education, background in high technology production is a definite asset.
- Demonstrated experience and qualifications in the safe handling of hazardous materials. ( WHMis )
- Ability to handle a broad range of technical products
- Computer literate (experience in working with a fully integrated computer system, Excel/Word knowledge is an asset)
- Ability to lift 30 lbs
- Must work as a team player and maintain good employee and public relations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work within a high pace, multi tasking environment with a flexible mindset
- Proactively identifies potential problem areas and offers solutions or properly escalates to appropriate levels
- Works on assignments and resolves problems that are routine in nature, with well-established procedures
- Must have Valid Forklift License
