Spring/Summer M**unicipal parks general labourer**

1 Full Time Term / Summer Position

**Salary**: $20.00 - $21.50/hr.

Term: April 22, 2024, to August 30, 2024

Working: 35-40 hours/week (shifts will vary); Parks and Recreation/Public Works

Reports To: Recreation Coordinator, Manager Infrastructure and Growth, Parks and Recreation Lead Hand

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Perform manual labor with hand and power tools.
- Manually cut trees and brush, clean ditches.
- Manually shovel and rake soil, dirt, gravel and other materials.
- Manually sweep and hose down surfaces.
- Weed cutting and removal.
- Maintain vehicles and equipment.
- Undertake minor maintenance of power/hand tools.
- Wash and clean vehicles, equipment, and buildings.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.
- Operate light vehicles and small tools in a safe manner to complete assigned tasks.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture by acting in a safe manner at all times and complying with Town safety policies for staff and contractors.
- Actively attend and participate in scheduled meetings, training sessions and special staff events.
- Supports any and all programs or events assigned, including Canada Day, Calmar Days, and other special events.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Valid CSA Safety Boots
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license
- Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work of this position.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written as well as the ability to follow oral and written directions and interact with internal and external customers in a positive manner.
- Ability to maintain concentration and alertness in a variety of situations.
- Knowledge of OHS and WHIMIS regulations.
- Proficiency with a variety of hand and power tools.
- Experience in a municipal setting is an asset.
