**Key responsibilities**:

- Monitoring and directing all activities on blast patterns in a safe and effective manner;
- Conducting field tests to determine type and quantity of explosives required;
- Addressing open pit drill and blast objectives, assumptions, needs, and results;
- Working with various teams in the open pit;
- Mentoring Blaster helpers:

- Coordinating activities across a variety of groups (Geology, Mine Operations etc);
- Following all explosives regulations and site procedures; and
- Providing leadership for all team members, especially on the safety front.

**Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, the role is based in the Mine Operations department. This is a site-based position with a 14 days in/14 days out rotation and is a permanent position.**
**Qualifications** Formal qualifications**:

- Certified Blaster with NWT Blasting Certificate;
- Five to eight years of experience in mining industry, preferably with operations in an open pit;
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written;
- Ability to work well at a fast pace;
- Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards; and
- Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.
