Machine Operator

**A. General Functions/Specific Responsibilities**:
This person is expected to fulfill the following key functions and responsibilities:
- Responsible for line preparation; setup scale and bagger to the proper program, prepare the poly and cases for the specified customer and product type, setup the case erector, case packer, case check weigher, and robot;
- Responsible to ensure the line runs efficiently;
- Make necessary adjustments to program settings or manual settings;
- Responsible for the integrity of the finished product, proper product being used, proper bag weights being met, bag seals and codes are correct, case codes are correct;
- Responsible for performing routine weight checks, code checks, seal checks, and case code checks;
- Responsible for ensuring product runs and is completed as detailed on the packaging daily schedule;
- Responsible to ensure roll changes, changeovers, and washouts are efficient;
- Responsible for ensuring the line does not shut down early for breaks, or shift end;
- Responsible for documenting all changes made to programming, manual settings, also responsible for documenting any difficulties, downtime, and line times;
- Responsible for other documentation, poly usage, and quantity of cases ran,
- Responsible for communication with all employees on the line, lift truck drivers, QA, and supervisors;
- Assisting with washouts-disassembling and reassembling where needed
- General housekeeping-keeping work area clean and tidy
- Must work in compliance with established Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP), Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) protocols and report any concerns to your supervisor;
- Other duties as assigned.
**Third Operator**:
- Responsible for communicating with shift operators, to stage poly to ensure more efficient changeovers and to allow operators to monitor lines consistently;
- During non-break periods, responsible for downstream events focusing on robot, tape machines, case packers, and case erectors for both Line 3 and 6;
- Support cross-training initiatives;
- Support line changeovers for both Line 3 & 6;
- Cover other positions as needed, depending on skill and ability;
- Assist in gathering materials (e.g. poly, peel & seal, tape);
- Assist with calibration of scale system where needed;
- Support Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) program;
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and assist in improvements when able.
**B. Personal Contribution**:
By performing these functions and fulfilling these responsibilities, this person will contribute to the Mission of the organization/Central Purpose of the department:

- Minimize customer concern of product(s) integrity;
- Enhance capacity of equipment, thereby improving efficiencies;
- Minimize the likelihood of lost time accidents by ensuring safe equipment;

**C. Entry Level Criteria**
- Must have strong attention to detail;
- Must have the ability to troubleshoot production line issues;
- Must be organized and able to multitask;
- Ability to self-motivate;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong comprehension of Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points.
**D. Success Criteria**
