**Basic Job Description**:

- Design, remodel, fit, alter or repair garments.
- Study garments on customers to determine required alterations.
- Measure customers, using tape measures, and record measurements.
- Record customers’ information, requirements and instructions on tags, and attach them to garments.
- Make made-to-measure garments, such as pants, dresses, suits and coats according to customers' and clothing manufacturers' specifications and fit.
- Design, select and/or modify commercial patterns to customers' and clothing manufacturers' specifications.
- Mark, cut and sew fabric.
- Fit, alter and repair garments according to customers' requests by hand or using sewing machines.

**Other tasks include**:

- Welcome customers, consult on styles of clothing products, answer the phone and manage check out.
- Estimate how much a garment will cost to make, based on factors such as time and material requirements.
- Examine tags on garments to determine alterations that are needed.
- Take up or let down hems to shorten or lengthen garment parts such as hem, sleeves.
- Let out or take in seams in suits and other garments to improve fit or remodel the styles.
- Restore clothes and other personal belongings: patching, replace zipper, replace lining, etc.
- Assemble garment parts and join parts with basting stitches, using needles and thread or sewing machines.
- Remove stitches from garments to be altered, using rippers or razor blades.
- Press garments, using hand irons or pressing machines.
- Keep the workplace well-organized and safe.
- Work on weekends or overtime may be required.

**Experience**

1) Tailor and design: 3+ years as tailor or seamstress

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Experience working on suits, tuxedos and formal dresses required.

2) Sales and Customer Service:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

3) English Language:
Effective English communication is a must. CLB 6+.

**Salary**: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
