**Job Summary**:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Agroforestry Technician to join our team. As a Agroforestry Technician, you will develop and implement remediation planting plans utilizing your knowledge of agriculture, forestry and land management best practices. You will oversee contractors and will conduct monitoring and survivability assessments, as well as implementation of planting plans. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective communication strategies and extension events to promote our organization and engage with our target audience.

**Office Responsibilities**:

- The Agroforestry Technician will work closely with the Project Director to lead planting planning, development of materials for, and facilitate online and in person extension events (e.g. workshops, presentations, tours) on topics related to agroforestry, riparian management, and woodlot management.
- Will collaborate with AWES partners and stakeholders within public, private, and non-governmental sectors and oversee contractors while in the field.
- Will assist or lead with the development and dissemination of extension materials and tools (e.g. factsheets, infographics, manuals, guides, articles, videos, webpages, or newsletters) on agroforestry, riparian management, or woodlot management related topics.
- Will assist or lead the design and implementation of agroforestry, riparian restoration, and woodlot enhancement planting projects. And will provide updates on progress of assigned projects with the intention of sharing success and seeking guidance from coworkers to develop organizational individual capacity.
- Will also seek out engagement and opportunities to support partner Not-for-Profit organizations through in-kind contribution opportunities.
- Ensure on-site and reporting deliverables are being met for each Project.

**Field Work Responsibilities**:

- Working extended hours with AWES staff & contractors to support delivery of planting projects and field assessments including but not limited to tree & cutting planting, vegetation management (weeding), supervision of planting contractors, tree watering, and transporting seedlings and tree material. This includes but is not limited to:

- supervision of planting contractors,
- tree & cutting plantings,
- vegetation management (weeding),
- tree watering, and
- transporting seedlings and tree material.
- Project Assessments with villages, private land owners, and conservation associations utilizing insect and pest, tree, and weed identification skills.
- Workshops & Field days working with AWES staff and contractors to deliver guided walks, field days, demonstrations, and other educational content found in the field (or forest).
- Host or present various extension events across the province.

**Requirements**:

- Post secondary schooling (diploma or Bachelor's Degree) and experience working in or knowledge of agriculture, forestry, land management, or related natural sciences.
- Effective writing, time management, and communication skills, including experience with technical writing and presentation delivery.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be physically capable of carrying 40 lbs and able to traverse uneven terrain carrying planting bags in inclement weather.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Experience in public speaking or presenting to large audiences
- Experience with or knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft 365 Suite, Google Suite, Google Earth Pro, or similar software.

**Salary**: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
