**_ UHN Sprott Department of Surgery (Sprott)_** is the largest, most comprehensive surgical program in Canada, completing over 25,000 surgical procedures annually across three hospital campuses: Toronto General, Toronto Western, and Princess Margaret. The Department spans 13 surgical divisions, from cardiovascular, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, specialized oncology, and transplant.
The **_Lead, Transformation and Quality_**, is an integral member within the Sprott team, overseeing key priority projects and the supporting annual operational/strategic business planning. The Lead is responsible for supporting the Senior Manager in the development, dissemination, implementation and evaluation of operational and strategic projects that involve interprofessional stakeholders, across a complex, multi-site and program hospital.
The scope of this role may include the support of, but is not limited to, strategic planning/monitoring, developing business proposals/plans, data analyses, workflow redesign, and/or quality improvement initiatives. The Lead will be required to manage multiple projects concurrently and is responsible for the planning, development and coordination of all aspects of these assigned projects including monitoring the deliverables of each team to ensure milestones are met.
**Key responsibilities and duties**:
- Collaborates with Senior Manager and other Program leadership in development of operational/program strategy.
- Leads overall project management including development, planning, implementation and evaluation of projects.
- Handles complex operational, clinical, and business problems and provides highly innovative and creative solutions that will achieve quality and work process improvements.
- Leads project implementation utilizing strong project and change management skills (project scoping, planning, implementation, evaluation, risk assessment, benefits realization) and applicable industry experience.
- Develops strong relationships with stakeholders and leverages multiple communication mechanisms and styles to effectively manage relationships to ensure engagement in and continued support of projects.
- Handles project planning and implementation problems in an expedient and efficient manner requiring individual judgment and latitude for independent action to solve problems, within generally defined policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with internal colleagues to ensure quality standards and other quality products are delivered on-time and on budget.
- Compiles and maintains reports and analytics as required. Uses internal data to support operation activities and serves as an expert resource to help implement data system changes which impact clinical stakeholders.
- Conducts quantitative and/or qualitative analyses on different sources of information and serves as an expert resource on evidence synthesis. Uses data to determine root cause or opportunities for improvement to effect change
- Leads planning for governance meetings, including preparation of meeting presentations and supporting materials.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum 5 years practical and related experience required
- At minimum, a completion of a Bachelor’s degree required in medical science, business or health administration
- A Master’s Degree is highly preferred in business or health administration, health sciences or health policy
- 1-2 years healthcare industry experience preferred with strong understanding of the healthcare system and clinical landscape in an acute care setting
- 3-5 years project planning, management and implementation experience is required
- PMP designation is preferred
