Position Available: Camp Counsellor (Canada Summer Jobs )

**Tasks and Responsibilities**

**Tasks**:
Supervision and Safety Oversight
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers by enforcing camp rules and guidelines.

Activity Planning and Execution
- Develop and lead diverse and engaging activities (games, crafts, sports) suitable for campers aged 5-12 which will also be educational.

Establishing Relationships
- Foster positive and inclusive interactions by building connections with campers to create a supportive environment.

Behavioral Guidance and Management
- Manage camper behaviors, handle conflicts, and employ effective problem-solving techniques when necessary.

Communication and Reporting
- Regularly communicate camper concerns and updates to the Education Coordinator for appropriate action.

Record-Keeping and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, camper information, and incident reports.

Team Collaboration and Participation
- Actively participate in meetings with fellow counsellors and the Education Coordinator to coordinate activities and address camper needs.

Support in Heritage Village Maintenance
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of the Heritage Village facilities.

Assist with the Creation of Promotional Materials
- Contribute to the development and distribution of promotional content for the camp, including flyers and social media posts.

**Responsibilities**:
Ensuring Campers' Safety and Well-being
- Responsible for safeguarding campers' safety and ensuring their well-being during camp activities.

Curating Engaging Activities
- Responsible for planning and executing various age-appropriate activities that align with campers' interests and needs which are also educational.

Creating a Positive Environment
- Responsible for fostering an environment of inclusivity, positivity, and support through meaningful connections with campers.

Behavioral Guidance and Intervention
- Responsible for managing camper behaviors and addressing conflicts to maintain a conducive camp environment.

Effective Communication and Reporting
- Responsible for promptly and accurately communicating camper-related concerns to the Education Coordinator.

Accurate Record-Keeping
- Responsible for maintaining precise records, including attendance logs, camper details, and incident reports.

Collaborative Team Engagement
- Responsible for actively engaging in team meetings, contributing ideas, and coordinating activities to ensure camper needs are met.

Heritage Village Maintenance Assistance
- Responsible for aiding in the upkeep and cleanliness of the Heritage Village facilities throughout the summer season.

Promotional Material Contribution
- Responsible for assisting in the development and distribution of promotional content for the camp, such as flyers and social media posts.

Must be able to meet all the criteria of Canada Summer Jobs:

- Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible).
- Are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number).
- Are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months

**Salary**: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
