**Course Description**

Students will explore questions of leadership, personal reflection and what it is to thrive in a university environment from social, sustainability, and forward-thinking perspectives. Through a variety of individual and group activities, students will develop and reflect on various elements of personal growth and communication skills. To further understand how actions and perceptions impact those around them, students will explore individual leadership styles: how potential actions can impact group dynamics, understandings of equity, diversity, and inclusion; and the leadership and communication styles of others.

This course will be structured as a co-teaching model; with 2 sessionals teaching 1.5 units each.

**Required Qualifications**
- University degree is required.
- The successful applicant will have previous experience teaching courses of this nature, or similar courses, at the university level and/or appropriate academic qualifications.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Knowledge and understanding of the McMaster University Housing and Conference Services Living Learning Communities would be considered an asset.
- Experience in highly interactive teaching methods and providing meaningful feedback on student reflections is preferred.
- Experience supporting first-year students at McMaster University is an asset.
- Experience in developing supports and services for students from equity-deserving groups is an asset.
- A graduate degree in a related field is desired, preferably with a specialization in higher education, student affairs or equivalent.
- Experience working with academic partners from across the McMaster University campus is considered an asset.
- An understanding of leadership initiatives at McMaster University
- Supplemented Fees
- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement. The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount. If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.
