The DoubleTree by Hilton London is located in the heart of downtown London. This hotel is connected by a skywalk to the RBC place and is within a ten-minute walk away from the Covent Garden Market and Budweiser Gardens The hotel has 323 rooms and suites, an onsite restaurant, a Starbucks, and 34,000 square feet in banquet and meeting spaces. This full-service hotel also offers a well-equipped fitness centre and pool and a fully equipped business center.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Maintenance person is responsible for performing general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained and to ensure the smooth and profitable running of the property.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions**:
1. Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard.

2. Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.

3. Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting systems, and make minor repairs and/or replacement.

4. Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all hotel equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, pool equipment, HVAC, hand and power tools and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipelines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment.

5. Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening).

6. Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed.

7. Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.

8. Operation of heavy machinery.

9. Dispose of garbage.

10.Carry out maintenance duties allocated daily in accordance with departmental requirements contributing to the smooth running of departments and achieving guest satisfaction.

11. Assist with the testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting etc. on a routine basis.

12. Liaise closely with the direct supervisor regarding completion of work to minimize on “down” rooms and contribute to the overall profitability of the property.

13. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

14. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Climbing, reaching, standing, walking and routinely lifting 25 lbs to 50 lbs.

2. Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly. Be skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.

3. Must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress of work assignments.

4. Must have the ability to communicate in English.

5. Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.

**6. **Exposure to extreme temperatures.

7. Strong customer service skills

8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons

**Job Type**: Part-time
