Veterinary Assistant

East Oshawa Animal Hospital (EOAH) is seeking a **Full Time Veterinary Assistant** to join our team Our clinic has been serving the Durham Region since 1955 as a general practice that also offers Ultrasound, Reproductive Services and Cold laser therapy, along with a team of RVT’s contributing to help meet the needs of our Veterinarian's and long-standing clients.
- Be reliable, punctual and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Afternoon availability and rotating Saturdays, with the flexibility to cover on an as needed basis
- Experienced with patient restraint in an animal care setting
- Confident with a positive attitude
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues

**Duties and responsibilities will include**:

- Assisting DVM and RVT with the administration of medication, and restraining dogs and cats for IV placement, ultrasound, x-ray and blood collection
- Ability to identify and report changes in the animal to technicians/doctor
- Proactive to meet the needs of the RVT and DVM
- Provide care for clinic cat and in-hospital patients
- Maintains a sterilized workspace for all cages, runs and related areas
- Stock supplies in treatment and exam rooms
- Preparing medications for patients
- Complete laundry and cleaning duties within the clinic
- Stand for extended periods of time and be able to lift over 40lbs

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $16.55 per hour

Expected hours: 27.5 - 33.5 per week
