**Position Overview**:
The Purchasing Agent at ADL Foods is instrumental in managing procurement for our Foodservice division. This role involves maintaining strong vendor relationships, ensuring the timely acquisition of quality products, and overseeing inventory levels to support our operations. As part of the team, you'll handle everything from negotiating contracts to tracking supply trends, all while ensuring ADL Foods delivers on its commitment to excellence. Your work will be crucial in maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of our foodservice supply chain.

**Location**: ADL Foods, 400 Read Drive, Summerside, PE

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to achieve the best pricing and service agreements.
- Monitor and analyze sales trends, inventory levels, and vendor requirements to generate purchase orders that ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods for the Foodservice division.
- Collaborate closely with the sales team to align purchasing decisions with rising or falling sales trends and customer demand.
- Track and forecast inventory needs based on sales data, promotions, and seasonal patterns, ensuring sufficient stock while avoiding over-purchasing.
- Source new products in response to customer requirements and work with the sales and inventory teams to secure desired items.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing guidelines and internal financial targets while optimizing procurement processes for supplier promotions and seasonal buys.
- Address inventory-related issues, such as shortages, slow-moving items, and new product opportunities, and communicate these with the sales team to resolve problems quickly.
- Provide alternatives and substitutions for products and contribute to ongoing efforts in SKU rationalization.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation, tracking products such as discontinued items, new products, and pricing changes, ensuring efficient movement of inventory.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field, ideally within the food industry.
- Strong skills in vendor management, contract negotiation, and inventory control (preferred).
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to analyze data, conduct cost analysis, and identify supply chain trends.
- Proficient in MS Office and purchasing software systems.
- High attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
