The Matte Painter/Environment TD creates the environment of a film based on the creative direction from the Art and/or Production Design department. At times they are involved in conceptualizing the look and feel of a scene/environment in the film. As a Matte Painter you are passionate about complementing the story of the film and/or scene through your images utilizing visual cues such as composition, color, and value while having a strong foundation in perspective. You are continuously looking for ways to improve your creative and technical prowess in a strong team environment and are willing to utilize a variety of tools.

**Your Role**:

- Integrate matte paintings to match the overall look and feel for feature Animation films;
- Create and develop 2D, 2 ½D & 3D assets, environments and elements;
- Ensure matte painting consistency with color and/or Lighting Keys;
- Assist with the look development for a shot or sequence with the supervising team;
- Contribute to the visual and technical attributes of the productions;
- Learn and adapt to new methods and techniques;
- Provide photographic reference material by taking digital/film photographs;
- Complete projections in Nuke.

**We’d like to talk to you if you have/are**:

- Strong knowledge of Photoshop and a good working knowledge of Maya and Nuke;
- Previous knowledge of stereography;
- Be able to do Mono and stereo projections;
- Good knowledge of color and light;
- Basic Modelling skills is an asset;
- Ability to work well within a team environment and interpret artistic direction from the Art Director and film Director;
- Able to work independently and with mínimal supervision;
- Knowledge of Photography and/or Cinematography;
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.

Il/Elle peut être impliqué dans la conceptualisation du look et de l’atmosphère d'une scène/environnement du film. Il/Elle doit être passionné afin de compléter l'histoire du film et/ou de la scène à travers ses images en utilisant des éléments visuels tels que la composition et la couleur tout en ayant une base solide en perspective.

**Votre rôle**:

- Intégrer les matte paintings pour les faire correspondre à l'aspect général et l’atmosphère du film ;
- Créer et développer des assets 2D, 2 ½D & 3D, des environnements et des éléments ;
- Veiller à la cohérence du matte painting avec la couleur et/ou l’éclairage ;
- Aider à l'élaboration du look pour un plan ou une séquence avec l'équipe de supervision ;
- Contribuer aux attributs visuels et techniques des productions ;
- Apprendre et s'adapter à de nouvelles méthodes et techniques ;
- Fournir du matériel de référence photographique en prenant des photographies numériques/films.

**Compétences souhaitées**:

- Connaissance approfondie des logiciels Maya et Nuke ;
- Bonne compréhension de la stéréographie et capacité de faire des projections en Mono et en stéreo ;
- Excellente compréhension des couleurs et de la lumière ;
- Notions de Modelling de bases est un atout ;
- Capacité d’interpréter la vision artistique du Réalisateur et du Directeur Artistique ;
- Capacité de travailler avec une équipe et indépendamment ;
- Knowledge of Photography and/or Cinematography ;
- Facilité pour la communication et bon sens de l'organisation ;
- Bilinguisme (Anglais et Français) est un atout.
