**OUR CENTRE**

Gledhill Avenue Child Care Centre (GACCC) is a non-profit child care centre that has serviced the local community since 1989. We are located within a TDSB elementary school. Our centre has a licensed capacity of 166 children, with before
- and after-school programs for children in kindergarten through grade 5 in addition to year-round full-day care for preschool-aged children. All of our programs follow Ontario's early years pedagogy, _How Does Learning Happen?_

**POSITION**

The Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) works directly with children in the **Preschool Full-Day Program, or the Kindergarten and School Age Before and After School and Summer Camp programs,** and is responsible for collaborating in partnership with colleagues to provide learning and care for children (ages 4 to 9 years old) that stimulate and develop the children’s language, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth while ensuring safety, inclusivity and a sense of overall well-being and belonging in the childcare setting.

**Note: This is a supply/casual/on-call position.**

Schedule and hours will vary, depending on Centre needs and employee availability.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Program Development & Implementation**:_
- Work collaboratively with program staff to establish and maintain a safe, warm and caring classroom environment in which a high quality child care program can operate.
- Facilitate enrichment programming and special clubs/interest groups for children.
- Attend field trips.
- Contribute to setting up and maintaining positive and engaging indoor/outdoor learning environments.
- Provide positive guidelines such as redirecting, positive language, and positive reinforcement.
- Build positive interactions and provide an inclusive, nurturing respectful and safe environment.

- **Operations & Compliance**:_
- Adhere to and implement the center's Program Statement, policies, procedures, and handbooks.
- Adhere to all applicable standards and guidelines, including the CCEYA/O. Reg. 137/15, the City of Toronto's Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI), Toronto Public Health's Infection Prevention and Control Guidance for Child Care Centres, etc.
- Follow and implement children’s individualized support and/or medical plans.
- Implement and support emergency response procedures and evacuation plans, including fire drills, allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and other medical emergencies.
- Assist in daily housekeeping chores, including scheduled and as-needed cleaning and disinfection of toys/materials and the program space.
- Identify, address, and remove/manage potential hazards, including promptly reporting any hazards that cannot be safely removed.

- **Family & Community Relations**:_
- Ensure that all families feel welcome to GACCC and are greeted each day at arrival and departure.
- Listen to any parent/guardian concerns and/or feedback; and inform the room RECE as soon as possible about any concerns and/or feedback provided by parents/guardians.
- Create an environment that reflects family diversity and help to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Promote and model a positive attitude towards diversity.

- Experience implementing Ontario's early learning framework and early years pedagogy (i.e. _**ELECT, HDLH**_) and the City of Toronto's Assessment for Quality Assurance (_**AQI**_) is an asset.
- Ability to perform other related duties as needed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Experience working in licensed child care and/or summer camps (preferred)
- Food Handler Certification is an asset
- Able to provide a current/clear police check with vulnerable sector screening and up-to-date immunization records (dated within 6 months of start date)
