**Salary**: $2,757.39 to $3,604.17 bi-weekly ($71,967 to $94,068/year)
**Farmers' and Property Rights Advocate (FPRAO)** provide information and resources on legislation and advocate on behalf of property owners. The Farmers’ Advocate Office (FAO) and the Property Rights Advocate Office (PRAO) operate under two separate mandates. The FAO is an issues-driven office that provides timely information to rural Albertans and supports fair process through advice, dispute resolution and advocacy. The PRAO listens to Albertans’ concerns about property rights and communicates them to government.
**Role Responsibilities**:
As a **Rural Land and Property Research Specialist (RLPRS)** with the Farmers’ and Property Rights Advocate Offices (FPRAO), you will play a key role in supporting Alberta rural landowners by providing advice, information, and advocacy on issues related to agricultural land and property. You will perform comprehensive reviews and assessments of land title documents, legal decisions, and legislation, contributing to dispute resolution processes. In addition, you will develop and maintain a database of recurring issues and solutions relevant to the FPRAO.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Develop and maintain a database of FPRAO recurring issues**: Review past case files and conduct interviews with staff to identify prominent issues. Document legal decisions, past resolutions, and strategies for future reference.
- **Land title and legal decision review**: Evaluate land title documents, including caveats and encumbrances, and provide analysis on public and private land issues for clients, FPRAO staff, and stakeholders.
- **Consultation and recommendations**: Draft high-level Briefing Notes and provide recommendations to the Minister’s Office, FPRAO specialists, and external organizations on matters of rural concern.
- **Miscellaneous duties**: Assist in creating, updating, and revising advisories, policies, and website content. Provide cover-off for other specialists as needed.

**Qualifications**:
- **University graduation** in a related field such as Agriculture, Agronomy, Land Administration, Paralegal/Legal Assistant
- **four (4) years progressively responsible related experience** in areas such as agriculture, legal document review, land title assessment, or property law.
**_Equivalencies _**maybe considered - directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
**Additional Requirements**:
- Strong understanding of rural Alberta and agriculture.
- Familiarity with FPRAO-related legislation, such as the Agricultural Operations Practices Act, Line Fence Act, Property Rights Act, Farm Implement and Dealership Act and any agricultural legislation.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex legal documents and provide clear recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret legislation and research land titles, legal decisions, and contract concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Experience in agricultural or property rights issues preferred.
- Proficiency in database management preferred.
**Preference will be given to those with extensive knowledge and hands on experience
