GateWorks is hiring for our next great career-oriented full time (40 hours per week) Gate Service Technician offering a salary of $61,360.00 annually. GateWorks is a Calgary and area business that specializes in the design, installation, and full service of automated gate systems and access control solutions throughout Alberta.

We are currently seeking a Gate Service Technician, responsible for the performance of scheduled and emergency maintenance of our products.

**Responsibilities and Tasks**:

- Inspect products to determine the requirements for repair
- Installation, and performing routine and preventative maintenance, after-sales service, and repair of electronic gate equipment
- Testing, inspecting and reviewing electronic equipment, components and assemblies to ensure safe operation and proper assembly using multimeters, circuit testers, and other electronic test instruments, tools and equipment
- Diagnosing and locating circuit, component and equipment faults
- Troubleshooting, Adjusting, aligning, replacing or repairing installed electronic equipment and assemblies (using product manuals, manufacturer’s help desk and technical support, and company resources)
- Repair or replace defective or worn-out parts and components using hand and power tools
- Prepare cost estimates and complete work orders, test and maintenance reports
- Focus on Access Controls where needed (approximately 8 - 12 hours per week)
- Responding to customer service calls and make recommendations to customers on the purchase of services or spare parts
- Preparing and providing timely field reports as required by customers or management using FastField reports
- Ensuring efficient allocation of time making use of phone/GPS service to ensure travel between service calls is managed effectively
- Maintaining current vehicle inventory, cleanliness and maintenance of company service vehicles

**Computer and technology knowledge**
- MS Office - Understanding of computer skills including competency with the MS Office and Microsoft Suite
- Integration of access devices with PC / server based software

**Equipment and machinery experience**
- Hand tools - Working knowledge of the use of simple hand tools, power tools and complicated speciality tools (training will be provided for speciality tools)

**Mandatory Requirements**:
Education**:Minimum High School/Secondary School education**

Experience**:Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of industry specific experience**

Language**:English**

**Security and safety**:

- Criminal record check - Successfully pass the Calgary Police Services Contractor Background Check
- Driving record check (abstract) - Safety compliance with a valid driver’s license and clean driver's abstract

**Transportation/travel information**:

- Valid driver’s licence
- Company vehicle supplied by employer for the purpose of performing assigned duties and travel to and from work

**Work conditions and physical capabilities**:

- Manual Dexterity
- Attention to detail - High level of mechanical aptitude, attention to detail and problem solving
- Ability to complete manual tasks such as: bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and standing
- Ability to work independently
- Willing to work in remote locations occasionally
- Participate in on-call rotation

Weight handling**:Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)**

**The following would be considered an asset and would be prioritized for hiring**:

- IDEA Certification for Gate System Designer, Technician and Installer
- Documented Access Control training
- Prior training in WSIB, WHIMS and other safety programs
- Aerial Platform Certificate
- Enrolled in CDI (Canadian Door Institute)
- Fall Arrest Certificate
- Able to work on extension ladder
