Greenhouse Grower

Jeffries Nurseries Ltd. is a wholesale nursery that offers a full compliment of nursery stock. We have been in business for 40 years and are known for our brand, Northern Garden Collection. Our greenhouse division is comprised of approximately 1 acre of gutter connected greenhouses. We are looking for an experienced greenhouse grower to join our team and help us cultivate beautiful, healthy plants.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Monitor the growth and health of plants to ensure crop is healthy and growing optimally
- Seeding, propagation, transplanting and shipping of greenhouse crop
- Propagation of softwood shrub cuttings
- Monitor environmental conditions in the greenhouse and make necessary adjustment to maintain optimal growing conditions
- Ensure watering standards are accurately met as well as maintain irrigation systems
- Mix fertilizers and clear irrigation filters
- Monitor pest, disease control by conducting periodic scouting, implementing IPM and other controls
- Conduct spraying as needed
- Monitor and control minor weed problems
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
- Work with other members of the greenhouse team to plan and implement production schedules
- Maintain accurate records of crop production and assist with the development and implementation of new growing techniques.

**Education and Skill Requirement**
- A diploma in horticulture or related work experience is required.
- Knowledge of plant cultivation techniques and practices
- Familiarity with greenhouse operations is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labor as required
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and report any issues or concerns
- Attitude of continuous learning
- Flexible to work some weekends on rotation and extended hours during spring
- Pesticide applicator's license

**Salary**: $20.00-$24.19 per hour

Expected hours: 80 per week
