The Communications Strategist position at the University of Regina is a unique opportunity to join our Advancement team, which focuses on fundraising, alumni relations, and community engagement. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective communications and marketing strategies. Working closely with the Development team responsible for fundraising, you will contribute to advancing the University’s strategic priorities and engaging key audiences. Connecting with our donors, alumni, and community supporters in meaningful ways has the potential to generate significant return on investment for the University. This position will be integral in advancing the University’s strategic priorities and exciting key audiences about the vision for the institution.

As the Communications Strategist, your primary responsibilities will include:

- Development and execution of comprehensive communications plans that will elevate the University’s reputation in collaboration with Your expertise in strategic communication will help shape and deliver compelling messages to various stakeholders, including donors, alumni, and the community.
- Providing editorial input on the story choices for various institutional media platforms, ensuring: the communications requirements of all development partnerships are met to the satisfaction of the agency/donor and that stakeholders (eg: alumni, donors, agencies) are appropriately recognized through the University’s communications and marketing efforts.
- Enhance “earned media” exposure, in collaboration with the Communications and Marketing team to generate positive media coverage at the local and national levels. Proactively identify opportunities to showcase the University, its alumni, donors, and other stakeholders through compelling stories. Develop strategies to maximize positive media exposure and increase the University’s brand reputation
- Create and execute marketing deliverables aimed at external audiences to drive desired actions. Develop strategic paid media campaigns that effectively promote the University’s key messages, programs, and initiatives. Utilize data-driven insights to identify target audiences and optimize campaign performance.
- Planning and executing large-scale public events in collaboration with colleagues in Development and Marketing and Communications. These events aim to increase the University’s presence at regional, national, and international levels while promoting community involvement, securing funding opportunities, and fostering valuable partnerships.
- In addition to the specific responsibilities outlined above, you may be assigned additional duties that contribute to the overall success of the University and support the objectives of the Advancement team. As a versatile team player, you will adapt to evolving needs and demonstrate flexibility in addressing various communication and marketing initiatives.

Position Requirements

**Position Requirements**:

- Undergraduate degree in Communications or related field combined with 6-8 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing or public relations, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered;
- Professional accreditation in either CPRS or IABC is an asset;
- Experience working in communications for a large, multifaceted public sector organization;
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing communication plans, marketing plans and editorial content for various social media platforms;
- Excellent writing and editing required;
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills
- Experience in events and project management;
- Must have strong verbal and presentation skills;
- Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to be self-motivated, work independently and meet tight deadlines; and,
- Strong interpersonal skills; must have ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide and diverse range of people, clients and constituencies.

Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 5 Salary Range $67,626 - $91,266 Annually Status Permanent Work Hours

Monday - Friday 8:15am -4:30pm.

Some work outside of regular hours and/or travel may be required.
