**Schedule / Terms of Employment**: 12-hour shifts, (7 days on / 7 days off, 7 nights on / 7 nights off) 2x 30-minute breaks per shift

**Primary Purpose**

Reporting to the Mine Superintendent, the Mine Operations Supervisor's primary purpose is to supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of all mine operations personnel to optimize utilization of resources and achieve overall mine operations production objectives.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Responsible and experienced worker in charge of other employees within their crew/shift. The lead hand plays an intermediate role between employees and supervisors. Reports directly to the site supervisor/Foreman.
- Responsible for the smooth and safe operation of their team, helping the employees to meet goals and mediating concerns with upper management.
- Involved with and supportive of, disciplinary actions brought about by supervisors.
- Ensure that the work schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
- Evaluation of quality of work of team members, organizing crew tasks, maintaining work standards.
- Resolving issues between team members.
- Mentoring new employees and apprentices.
- Promotes a safe work environment and is responsible for the safety of their crew.
- Understand the legal liability of this role and any related occupational and safety laws.
- Certain their team members comply with safety regulations, identify a need for safety training, complete an initial safety and hazard assessment, participate in accident investigations, and see to timely resolution of safety concerns.
- Accountable for their team’s ability to meet production goals. - Follow the daily production plan assigned from the Production Supervisor.
- Identify requirements for specific materials, tools or equipment and communicate these requests to the appropriate person.
- Informs their supervisor of any scheduling conflicts and assists in resolving them.
- Understanding the need to prioritize work schedules to meet goals.
- Other tasks as the need arises.

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Valid BC Shift Boss Certificate.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an open pit mining environment.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize projects and manage time
- Strong coaching and motivational talent
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Well versed in statutory mining regulations and regulatory agency structures
- High level of attention to detail;
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform tasks with mínimal supervision for safety, production and quality, and haul operations.
- Ability to build strong working relationships, internally.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Quick learner and adaptable to an ever-changing environment
- Mine equipment safety standards.
- Preparation of work schedules and performance reports.
- Understanding of short
- and long-term planning objectives.

**Technical Competencies and Skills**
- Knowledge of mine equipment safety standards.
- Competence in the maintenance and servicing of mobile mining equipment.
- Competence in the operation and maintenance of a maintenance facility and the tools and equipment involved.
- An understanding of short and long term planning objectives with the ability to prioritize.
- Ability to mentor employees and possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Possess strong problem-solving ability, with particular attention to the details.
- Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office programs.
- Stress management and time management skills.
- Literacy skills including the ability to read manuals and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to act and make decisions with integrity, good judgment, and discretion.
- Conflict resolution skills are an asset.
- Coordinate input from various sources as to equipment status and make technically sound decisions.
- Have a proven ability to motivate employees to work safely and achieve operational targets.
- Build strong working relationships with employees and contractors and demonstrate integrity, empathy, sincerity and respect.
