**Opportunity**

The Honor Secondary School (HSS) Team Lead is responsible for day-to-day administrative operations, ensuring the consistent delivery of care and case planning and management for students referred to HSS. The core role is to provide youth care, supervision to staff members ensuring that a consistent approach is being used to achieve identified goals and to carry out program administrative tasks.

The HSS Team Lead will have a sound understanding of all legislation and policy that impacts children, youth, and families, with special emphasis on youth criminal justice and child welfare policy. They will have knowledge of youth issues, cultural awareness, equity issues, special needs issues, and community development. Specific responsibilities include administrative supervision; clinical leadership and supervision; quality assurance; and program planning. The HSS Team Lead will have a solid understanding of youth dynamics and trends affecting marginalized youth, adolescent development, mental health, neurodevelopment disorders such as FASD and ASD, MCFD policy and legislation, the ecological model, community engagement, staff development, and the agency’s policies and procedures. A solid understanding of alternate education specifically in an independent school environment

Responsibilities:

- Work with Manager to ensure overall operations, finances, quality assurance and service delivery; implement contract requirements; monitor, report, and assess service performance related to meeting contract outcomes.
- With Manager, support and develop an engaged, collaborative, and effective staff team.
- Oversee development, documentation, and on-going reviews to all program components, ensuring all program components reflect a substance use recovery orientation, including developing and monitoring an active evaluation process to address agency and funder requirements.
- Maintain appropriate group and individual case files and related documentation.
- Maintain effective and appropriate relationships with funders, partner service delivery organizations, government officials, volunteers, and community groups.
- Participate on committees, working groups, and associations; and develop community networks relevant to managed services.

Qualifications:

- B.A. in Child and Youth Care or Social Work or a related field plus seven (7) years’ related experience.
- Solution-focused counselling training, motivational interviewing
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, combined with at least seven (7) years’ related experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in crisis intervention and de-escalation of violence (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention).
- Demonstrated experience in supporting teams in counselling roles, supervision, and fiscal management.
- A thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation.
- Experience working with target population.
- Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants.
- Effective team building and mentoring skills.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills: ability to balance multiple, often conflicting priorities.
- A sound understanding of substance use recovery models, attachment, mental health, and trauma-and-resiliency informed practices.
