We are looking for a hardworking and dynamic Shop Safety Advisor who has a solid foundation in HSE and can do the job with good vibes and great energy.
This job reports directly to the HSE Manager.
Hours of work are 7 to 5:30, Monday to Thursday with opportunity for flexibility when required.
**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure all Safety Management documentation is completed, maintained, and organized for compliance with Company and Legislated requirements.
- Ensure ongoing statistical reporting is performed.
- Assist HR with ensuring the health and safety orientation is completed as part of the onboarding process.
- Conduct, assist with or direct investigations of all Loss or Non-Loss incidents within Scovan.
- Ensure and enforce compliance with all Legislated, Client, and Company HSE regulations, codes, standards, policies, and practices by all staff, workers, and subcontractors of Scovan. This includes inspections, monitoring, analysis and directing the safety performance of the above as required.
- Assist as a resource to client, management, supervision, and workers for understanding or implementing of all aspects of the safety management program and the HSE discipline.
- Track safety training /requirements for employees, ensure training is kept current.
- Perform regular inspections to evaluate and monitor HSE performance. This involves positive interaction with all workers, and the client to promote the HSE program and provide leadership and guidance on ongoing HSE concerns.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all private or company sensitive information obtained through performance of the Field HSE Coordinator role and to protect the professional integrity of the Health and Safety profession.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Comprehensive training and experience in safety management systems and processes
- Computer proficiency in MS Office.
- Ability to respond to situations as they occur.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Standard first aid certification. Advanced first aid or EMT would be an asset.
- CSTS2020 or CSO required.
- ACSA internal auditor certification is considered an asset.
- NCSO Designation or working towards designation.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and ethics to represent Scovan and the Safety Profession in a positive, professional manner.
- Trades experience is considered an asset.
