**Assistant Instructor** to perform a variety of duties in support of the Broadcast and Online Journalism program and departmental operations.**Duties & Responsibilities**
- The Assistant Instructor duties include but are not limited to: program admin duties; teaching, training and supervisory activities; advising students; managing program website & studios (both audio and video); marking; assisting with course development; occasional delivery of lectures; coordinating internships; serving on committees; and attending departmental meetings. We are seeking an individual who is highly qualified, enthusiastic, committed to quality and innovation in meeting our students’ needs, and who values the importance of teamwork in the workplace.**Qualifications**

**QUALIFICATIONS***:

- Relevant diploma, or degree, in Journalism or Media production
- A minimum of two years relevant experience in Journalism.
- Expertise in the broadcast and online journalism industry.
- Recent experience with a variety of broadcast related software including; Adobe Creative Suite, Wordpress, Burli Newsroom, Inception, Open Broadcaster Software, Network Device Interface, and BirdDog Cam Control software
- Technical Experience with a variety of broadcast production related equipment such as; ENG & DSLR cameras, microphones, both MAC and PC computer platforms, lighting equipment, Facilis media servers and Wheatstone mixing console.
- Expertise and/or experience on a variety of social media platforms, specifically as it relates to news, sports and current affairs content, including experience broadcasting on Twitch and YouTube streaming services.
- Ability to provide training and assessment of post-secondary students, in an effective manner that promotes learner motivation and successful acquisition of skills and knowledge.
- Excellent English-language communication skills (written and verbal) as well as interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, collegial team environment.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work on the Burnaby campus during the hours of 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, on weekdays.

- BCIT’s Instructional Skills Workshop
- Industry experience including regulatory issues, intellectual property rights, copyright, media licensing, fair dealing, the ethics of media use and ownership in Canada.
- Experience with scheduling and coordinating internships an asset

**Salary Range**
- Salary Range: $66,196 - $90,430 per annum.**Additional Salary Information**
