Overview:
The preparation of asphalt mix designs, and assist in the research and development initiatives of the WCAN PAVE Regional Performance Group including all relevant asphalt mixture and aggregate consensus property tests.

**Responsibilities**:

- Carry out ongoing laboratory testing of aggregates, asphalt mixes, asphalt cements and related materials, (including recycled materials) as per ASTM, AASHTO, CSA, CCIL.
- Responsible for the testing and evaluation of all aggregate consensus properties.
- Responsible for the preparation, mixing, testing and evaluation of the various mix types, i.e. Marshall, Superpave, SMA, and OGFC.
- Maintain and calibrate all laboratory testing equipment to the applicable standards as required.
- Participate in technician and/or inter-laboratory materials testing and equipment correlation and certification programs as required to maintain accurate and consistent methods and test procedures or corporately mandated certification programs.
- Maintain a workplace that is safe, enjoyable and considerate to the environment.
- Able to work a variety of hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications:
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technologies
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in (field and lab) construction quality control testing, including experience in asphalt and aggregates.
- An understanding of aggregates/asphalt products and components, mix design, related testing procedures and standards.
- Experience in Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word and Power Point
- Current and valid Drivers License.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to foster cooperation.
- Must possess effective communication skills (written and verbal), personal initiative, and a high regard for safety.
