You'll lead an established team of 4 child protection social workers and the social worker assistant (SPOA). Together, you'll collaborate with partners like CYSN, school districts, and contracted counseling services to make a real impact on the lives of high-risk youth. This team thrives on creativity, commitment, and a deep connection to supporting youth with diverse needs, while also fostering each staff member’s personal and professional growth.

**The Role**
As the High Risk Youth First Team Leader, you’ll guide a team of social workers and SPOA staff in providing critical guardianship, protection, and child welfare services. This full-time leadership role in the North Fraser SDA offers the chance to collaborate with other leaders across the region, especially in New Westminster/Burnaby. You’ll make a meaningful difference by supporting the most at-risk youth, leading a dedicated team in complex care situations, and driving positive outcomes for those who need it most.

**Qualifications**:
Education and Experience Requirements

**1. Preferred Credentials**:

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care** OR** Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare **OR**:

- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)** OR**:

- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- At least 2 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.

**2. Expanded Credentials**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field** OR** Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field **OR **Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
- OPTIONAL: Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- **NOTE**:If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of job-specific work experience **OR **At least 3 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.

**Human Services fields include**:Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.

**Preference will be given to applicants with the following**:

- Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).

**Preference may be given to applicants with the following**:

- C6 delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA).
- Experience working with high-risk youth.
- Minimum six months or more of recent (within the past 3 years) supervisory experience in child protection and/or protective family services
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous with the required combination of education and experience.
