Do you enjoy working with children? Are you looking for an awesome, rewarding part-time job? We are looking for a caring, reliable, patient, energetic, and enthusiastic person with terrific play skills to provide support to a young child (3.5 years-old) with autism at his daycare in Fleetwood (Surrey). Sessions would be 3 or 4 days per week for 2-3 hours (days/times are flexible). There will also be monthly team meetings, usually on Zoom. The Behaviour Interventionist implements programs directly with the child, as directed by the BCBA. Programs are based in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and are play-based and child-led, so they're implemented within motivating play activities and embedded in typical daily routines, like snacks, circle time, dressing to go outside, outdoor play, hand-washing, etc. You’ll be working on goals related to speech and language, social skills, play, self-help, and emotional regulation.
We are looking for someone who has experience working with young children (especially those with special needs), or who has worked in a daycare setting. Specific BI experience is not necessarily a requirement, if you are the right fit. You will receive on the job training from the Behaviour Consultant, who is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), as well as ongoing support and training. This job provides excellent experience for those looking to become Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Early Childhood Educators, Education Assistants, or Behaviour Consultants. A background or current coursework in one of these related fields is an asset. Compensation is based on experience (typically $25-$35/hr., to start). You must be at least 19 years old, be able to provide a recent criminal record check, and be willing to commit for at least one year.
