**Job Description**:
**IMPORTANT NOTE**:The successful incumbent is required to work overnight, days, and evening shifts (weekends included).

**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Operational Supervisor, Residential and Day Treatment, the Residential Child and Youth Worker (CYW) works as part of an interdisciplinary team delivering direct services to clients with mental health needs. The Residential CYW is responsible for providing a safe and therapeutic environment in which individual client goals are actualized. All Kinark employees share the responsibility of workplace health and safety and the prevention of workplace hazards. Every employee must protect their own health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures.

In addition, it is important that the Residential CYW develops and maintains therapeutic relationships with clients, families and guardians and is adept at modeling positive social and problem solving skills, and skilled at behaviour management. _This position is covered by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 2860_. The position will be scheduled to meet program needs as per the Collective Agreement.

**Qualifications**:

- Child and Youth Worker diploma or equivalent post-secondary education
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and administrative skills
- Current valid Standard First Aid/CPR Level C certificate
- Training in Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour
- Understanding group dynamics and strong skills in group and individual counseling
- Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical
