**Summary**:
The Buyer is mainly responsible for purchasing products and maintaining adequate inventory to maximize sales and return on investment. The role of the Buyer requires a close working relationship with the Associate Dealer and the Management Team.
**Main Responsibilities and Tasks**:
- Liaises with all store departments, including automotive, to better understand their needs.
- Works with the management team to address concerns about quality, delivery and availability issues that impact customers directly.
- Maintains adequate inventory levels to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Processes and manages special orders in a timely manner.
- Manages regular, placing and promotional orders within the required timelines.
- Manages product assortment to identify opportunities within the business and the market to maximize sales, including line reviews, product recalls, guaranteed sales and APAP inventory.
- Seeks additional margin opportunities through web shop and special buys.
- Manages discontinued, 600 Deals, 99, 199, in-store special, DWOs (AIMS) and AS-IS merchandise for clearance.
- Plays an instrumental role in setting up and maintaining the AS-400 parameters according to the Dealer?s philosophy.
- Checks updates and processes damages, shortages, overages, claims and returns for all merchandise.
- Identifies items to maximize promotional and marketing strategies.
- Reviews all in-store promotions, in-store deals and locations regularly.
- Assists in creating bin caps and locations for the retail floor and the warehouse.
- Oversees maintenance of computerized systems.
- Liaises with Corporate and external suppliers as required.
- Communicates effectively with Retail Systems, Retail Planning, Equipment Acquisitions and Dealer Orders as required.
**Requirements**:
- Good mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively with computerized and inventory systems.
- Proven experience in logistics and buying.
- Knowledge of warehouse and store layout.
- Experience in a Canadian Tire store is considered an asset.
- Ability to complete detail oriented tasks and to demonstrate responsibility for outcomes.
- Results-oriented individual who possess good administrative skills and strong commercial awareness.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Aptitude for building and maintaining interpersonal relations, both with customers and coworkers.
- Displays a team-oriented approach.
- Ability to plan and organize activities and projects.
- Ability to find solutions to problems and make decisions.
- Ability to adapt and cope with challenging situations.

**Physical Demands and Working Conditions**
- Standing/walking for 8 hours.
