- We are looking for a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic to work in our Mobile Maintenance department as part of a robust and safety-oriented team. The Heavy-Duty Mechanic is responsible for repairing mobile equipment in a safe, environmentally friendly, and efficient manner to ensure optimal equipment availability for the Iron Ore Company of Canada mine site in Labrador City, NL.

- Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor and working a 5 days on, 2 days off schedule, you will be:
- Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards - actively engaging in safety initiatives promoting our “Zero harm” safety culture.
- Contribute to safety and efficiency by constructively participating in safety meetings and incident investigations.
- Keep work areas clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis. Adhere to safety and environmental rules.
- Perform heavy equipment repairs within planned time frames and without compromising the integrity of the equipment.
- Provide sufficient detail about repairs so that others can understand what work has been done on the equipment.
- Prepare written and electronic reports for leaders as requested.
- Help develop Heavy-Duty Mechanic apprentices.
- Working within the Mobile Maintenance Shop and it an outdoor mine environment. Regularly working in adverse weather conditions.
- Please note: Fly-in-fly-out arrangements are not available. Relocation assistance to Labrador West region is provided.
- What you’ll bring
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team;
- Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Mechanic (HDET) trade qualification preferred; Apprentices will also be considered
- High school graduation or equivalent;
- A minimum of a valid Class 5 Provincial driver’s license;
- Two to three years of relevant experience; including experience working in an industrial setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in adverse weather conditions
