TC Transcontinental Packaging, the Packaging Sector of TC Transcontinental (TSX: TCL.A TCL.B), positions itself as leader in flexible packaging in North America, and also has operations in Guatemala, Mexico, Ecuador, United Kingdom, New Zealand and China. This sector has over 4,000 employees, the majority of which are based in the United States. Its platform is comprised of one premedia studio and 28 production plants specializing in extrusion, lamination, printing and converting.

TC Transcontinental Packaging offers a variety of flexible plastic and paper products, including rollstock, bags and pouches, shrink films and bags, and advanced coatings. This sector services a variety of markets, including dairy, coffee, meat and poultry, pet food, agriculture, beverage, confectionery, industrial, consumer products and supermarkets.

**About this opportunity**

Reporting to the Technical Manager at TC Transcontinental Flexstar, The Quality Manager is responsible for managing the quality control and quality assurance processes throughout the plant, including quality compliance, non-conformance management, preventive controls, and statistics. The Quality Manager oversees both the lab operation and the quality technicians, monitors the production teams’ compliance with quality standards and is responsible for adherence to food safety standards in the plant. This role requires excellent time management skills, flexibility and the ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities.

**What you will do**
- Monitor the operation of printing, lamination, extrusion, slitting, and bag making departments to ensure that the products meet the quality standards
- Coordinate the tasks of the quality department according to priorities and urgencies of the plant
- Supervise the quality technicians with regular, clear communication of goals, performance feedback, and coaching and training
- Develop quality programs to reduce the cost of poor quality and number of complaints
- Analyse the quality issues, complaints and returns and implement appropriate controls to prevent reoccurrence of issues
- Maintain, develop, and prepare quality reports to present to management and at town hall meetings
- Manage audit and certification processes
- Coordinate discussions about quality issues with production department
- Attend a daily meeting with all departments and coordinate requirements from other departments
- Ensure that all personnel under your direct supervision are educated in and abide by company policies, procedures, and plant safety rules
- Show leadership by demonstrating a balanced focus on quality, safety, and production
- Build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization

**What you have to offer**
- Post-Secondary education from a recognized college or technical institute.
- Flexographic industry experience is desired however, an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Experience managing teams preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Organizational and leadership abilities with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and a results-driven approach to quality in the workplace.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office programs specifically: Outlook, Word & Excel)
- A thorough understanding of the inter-relationship between manufacturing, technical, materials, quality and purchasing with exposure in all of these areas
- Demonstrated safety knowledge.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of GFSI and other food safety certifications.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with customers, suppliers, and employees at every level of the organization.
