We are currently looking for a** Manager, System Security Engineering** to join our Control Centre Operations team in a newly developed permanent position. Reporting to the Director, you will deliver effective leadership to the System Security Engineering team, which consists of 13 Engineers and 2 Coordinators, to meet the goals of the Control Centre Operations business unit and the Energy Delivery team.

**As Manager you will**:

- Set up and communicate the team reporting structure along with team reporting requirements; conduct a needs assessment and work to identify areas requiring priority attention while working towards the development of short-term and long-term business plans.
- Ensure that Control Centre operating processes and procedures promote reliable and secure system operation, are compliant with NERC and NPCC regulatory requirements, and are effectively executed by your team.
- Incorporate the requirements of the Nova Scotia Wholesale Electricity Market Rules and Procedures, the Standards of Conduct, and the Open Access Transmission Tariff into system operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with NERC and NPCC reliability standards for Control Centre Operations by maintaining on-going compliance activities, compliance reporting, preparing for and participating in Reliability Standards audits; participating in the design, development and assurance that new/revised reliability standards are effectively implemented.
- Work with various project teams participating in solution design workshops for the development and implementation of technology and processes including automation of system optimization, aggregation, prioritization, curtailment, dispatch, reconciliation, and settlement transactions with existing and future generators in Nova Scotia.
- Ensure that your assigned responsibilities under the Control Centre Operations safety program are implemented, and the required level of compliance/participation is achieved amongst the System Security Engineering team.
- Provide oversight and direction to the response to operational contingencies both during and outside of normal working hours.

**What skills will make you successful?**
- You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

- Degree in Computer Science, Information or Operational Technology, Project Management, Technologist or Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years’ experience in a supervisory role within a technology diverse business user setting (Electricity utility sector, is preferred). Experience working within a regulated and compliance driven organization.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Strong organizational and critical priority management skills with a customer service ethic.
- Good interpersonal skills and can function effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to establish plans designed to meet stated organizational targets and goals.
- You must be available to support emergency power restoration work and comfortable working in a 24-hour 7 day per week environment.
- Experience working with FERC, NERC, NPCC and other utility regulation and compliance entities is considered an asset.
- Valid driver’s license
