**GALLERY COORDINATOR (SHORT-TERM CONTRACT)**

Reporting directly to the Programming Director (PD) on all matters relating to The Gallery at the Maury Young Arts Centre, you will take the lead role in executing all programming elements associated with The Gallery, Anonymous Art Show, and other AW visual arts projects and community arts initiatives as required.

**Part-time, contract position**: 10-20 hours/week. Must be flexible and willing to work some nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.

**Starting wage**: $25-28 /hr (based on experience).

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**PROGRAMMING AND PRODUCTION - THE GALLERY**
- Work with internal and external stakeholders for support in production of programs and events, including sponsorship, marketing, securing of venues, event and performer services, and operational support.
- Deliver results according to program plan, including a high-quality guest, artist/performer and team experience on time and within budget.
- Develop and implement systematic event timelines and operations plans, and communicate these to relevant staff and/or stakeholders.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with other community organizations and stakeholders.
- Take the lead role in coordinating all aspects of The Gallery, Anonymous Art Show, and other AW visual arts projects and community arts initiatives including but not limited to;
- Oversee the implementation, execution, and evaluation of these programs or program elements with the support of PD and other senior staff.
- Manage individual program budgets with the approval of and oversight from PD.
- Contract artists and performers with oversight from PD.
- Manage and collect all data required for creating final reports and statistics required to assist Development Officer with grant requirements.
- Schedule and work directly with all contract staff and volunteers for these programs.
- Ensure the delivery of the promotional plan and project workflow in collaboration with the PD.
- Liaise with artists for inventory drop-off, exhibit hanging, and inventory pick-up for The Gallery.
- Program and execute exhibit openings and/or art parties for each exhibit.

**OTHER**
- Maintain a flexible schedule to be determined with the PD.
- Attend community events where required.
- Attend occasional staff meetings as requested.
- Additional duties as required and within the scope and skills outlined in this position description.

**SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Experience working in events, galleries, and/or museums.
- A keen understanding of Whistler’s demographic and community stakeholders and the values of a culturally-based community service organization.
- Knowledge and passion for Whistler’s local arts and culture scene and the Arts Whistler mandate.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and a solid customer-focused attitude.
- Proven ability to develop and nurture positive and collaborative relationships with numerous internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating tact and diplomacy when managing stakeholder needs.
- Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of contract execution.
- Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals.
- Excellent time management and organization skills - ability to determine priorities and deliver on deadlines while maintaining detail.
- Ability to sustain physical activity walking up and down stairs, ladder use, transporting artwork, and moving equipment.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of Asana project management software is an asset.
- Ability to present a clean and professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract

**Salary**: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week
