Parts Technician

The Parts Technician is responsible for ordering, warehousing, inventory control and the sale of parts. Their duties also include identifying/searching for parts and equipment, shipping and receiving, and providing excellent customer service.

**Responsibilities**
- Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies
- Telephone sales support
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in a warehouse, tool room, supply room or other areas
- Process incoming requisitions and issue or distribute parts and supplies for internal usage
- Maintain records of orders and the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies on hand using a manual or computerized inventory system
- Prepare requisition orders to replenish parts and supplies
- Sell spare and replacement parts for motor vehicles, machinery and equipment in a retail setting
- Post receipts, stock adjustments, request for credits and PR’s into computer
- Advise retail customers or internal users on appropriateness of parts, supplies or materials requested.
- Fill customer orders from stock. Prepare sales slips or sales contracts.
- Keep track of backorders and follow up with vendors and customers
- Endeavor to increase parts sales and customer satisfaction through suggestive selling, use of coupon discounts and monthly flyer specials
- Ensure that product and service quality exceeds expectations. Aids in the merchandising of parts
- Must participate in all training programs made available through Peterbilt or outside vendors
- Assist Parts Manager as needed
- Occasional moderate lifting of up to 100 lbs is required
**Qualifications**
- 3-5 years heavy duty parts department experience
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree
- Red Seal parts certification is an asset
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Strong personal organizational skills as they relate to workload, time management and setting priorities
- Effective problem solving and negotiating skills
- Effective conflict resolution skills
- Ability to promote service sales and expand customer base.
- Solid understanding of the truck industry
**Compensation Rate**
- $23.03 - $41.85 per hour
- Pay rate will be determined based on previous experience, relevant certifications and skill level
