Wage $15.50 hourly (2023)
Reports To Divisional Supervisor/Manager
Department Community Services, Human Services, or Public Works
Location Dependant upon assignment (refer below)
Hours 36 - 40 hours per week - days, evenings, and weekend shifts, travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be required in
accordance with job requirements;
**Position Summary**:
Students employed in outdoor positions will be assigned a number of tasks which support a number of municipal services.

Such programs include maintenance in/of**:cemeteries, parks, trails, flower gardens, splash pads, sports fields, landfills, roads and roadsides**.

A number of departments employ summer students, at various work locations. Students can expect to be assigned to one of the following work teams/areas - **Cemeteries, Centennial Trailer Park, Landfill sites, Arenas, Parks and Trails, Roads operations or Housing Facilities Maintenance.**

Duties associated with this position may include - Assisting in planting and maintenance of shrubs and flower beds
- Turf maintenance, grass cutting, weed control and maintenance
- Road maintenance including road patching and general labour
- Traffic control duties such as flagging
- Litter collection and waste container servicing
- Clean and maintain washroom, park furniture, community halls, shelter facilities
- Operate machinery and equipment related to grounds maintenance functions (ie: lawnmowers, weed trimmers)
- Operate City vehicles for the purpose of travel to various work locations; trailering equipment such as lawn equipment, if applicable

Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, copy of Drivers Licence and 3 year standard Drivers Abstract will be required.

Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age, prior to May 1, 2023 and must hold atleast a class G2 drivers license.
Corporate orientation, on-site training, personal protective equipment (ie: orange wear, hard hats, goggles, gloves) and performance feedback will be provided. Workers must wear CSA approved work boots (not provided.)
