**Position: Child and Youth Worker **(3-month contract with possibility of extension)

**Salary/Hours**: $20.55 per hour for 20-hours per week

**Location**:In-person afternoons and evenings

**Reporting to**:Youth Program Coordinator

Are you a dynamic and empathetic individual dedicated to cultivating community bonds? Join our team as a Child and Youth Worker In this role, you'll plan, coordinate, and execute an enriching after-school program for the underserved community of Willowdale.

We seek a motivated and compassionate individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to join our Child and Youth Worker team. In this role, you will engage with parents, community partners, and local churches to empower youth and create meaningful experiences. We focus on serving under-resourced and underserved youth who are particularly vulnerable. By building meaningful relationships, you will be a mentor and guide, supporting the youth you encounter in the community.

**Responsibilities**:
**Program Management (70%)**
- Collaborate with the Youth Program Coordinator to design, implement, and evaluate the after-school program, ensuring it caters to the diverse needs of youth.
- Coordinate and collaborate with partner organizations to facilitate the safe and timely transportation of children and youth to off-site programs and activities.
- Develop and uphold operational procedures, including adherence to Plan to Protect policies.
- Partner with the Training and Development Coordinator to support youth requiring additional assistance.
- Foster a culture of respect and dignity, maintaining confidentiality and nurturing a welcoming environment for all participants.
- Identify service gaps and recommend strategies for improvement.
- Stay abreast of local youth services and programs, facilitating referrals as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Maintain effective communication with clients/caregivers via various channels.

**Communications and Administration (20%)**
- Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to bolster program support, minimizing duplication of efforts.
- Provide regular updates to the leadership team and report on community trends and priorities.

**People Management (10%)**
- Ensure appropriate staff-to-participant ratios for safe program delivery.
- Cultivate a non-judgmental environment for program delivery.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in social work or a related field.
- Commitment to serving low-income populations and anti-oppression, diversity, and social justice principles.
- Proven experience coordinating and leading youth camps and afterschool programs, encompassing diverse focuses such as arts, sports, and recreational activities.
- Ability to adapt programming to accommodate various learning styles and sensory needs.
- Strong understanding of and dedication to inclusivity.
- Demonstrated experience in the non-profit sector and with vulnerable populations.
- Ability to effectively work with children and youth in various settings.
- Strong organizational, project and time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail; proficient in written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Energetic, friendly, enthusiastic, patient, and flexible.
- First Aid and CPR certification are assets.
- Able to multitask and adapt to new challenges.
- Ability to work well independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Preference will be given to an individual with lived experience.

Our mission is to engage and empower neighbours to care for each other in practical, relational and sustainable ways that give everyone the opportunity to live out their potential. As a Christian-based organization, we have spiritual practices, including contemplation and prayer, as a part of our meetings. This program also has Christian components such as devotionals and church.
