The RCMP Heritage Centre is seeking energetic, positive and proactive individuals for the position of Summer Interpreter. The Summer Interpreter provides tours of the galleries as well as walking and driving tours of RCMP Academy “Depot” Division, assists with developing and delivering programming and special and family events, working with children and youth, delivering summer day-camp programming, working at the front admission desk and may assist in the gift shop as required. This is an exciting, public-facing visitor service position where you will meet and assist people from around the world

The RCMP Heritage Centre is a non-profit museum and cultural centre (not owned or operated by the RCMP). We provide an outstanding guest experience to visitors from around the world through our galleries, tours, classroom and family-friendly activities and programs, and public events (such as Canada Day).

The RCMP Heritage Centre is open 7 days per week therefore **the ability to work weekends on a flexible schedule is required.** We are hiring for three summer student positions for 15 weeks, from May 21 to August 31. This position is 30 to 35 hours/week with a starting wage of $16/hour.

**Skills/Knowledge/Abilities**
- Background or study area in History, Museum Studies, Education, community programming, communications, or related fields is considered an asset;
- Past community or recreation programming or customer service experience will be considered an asset;
- French or other second language is considered a considerable asset;
- Knowledge of the RCMP is considered an asset;
- Experience and enjoyment in working with the public;
- Must have excellent communication and visitor service skills;
- Ability to work with all age-groups;
- Must be extremely well-organized and able to work independently;
- Must be outgoing, personable, and be able to work well in a team environment;
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple, concurrent priorities in a fast-paced environment;
- Clear and articulate written and verbal communication skills;
- High degree of professionalism and integrity with an exemplary customer service focus;
- Ability to work effectively with others, yet also able to work independently with mínimal supervision;
- Some retail experience is preferred but not required
