Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian international relief organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

As the Dease Lake Ministry Center Intern, you will immerse yourself in the intricate operations and programs of community outreach tailored to support the vibrant community of Dease Lake and surrounding First Nation Communities. Through this experience, you will gain valuable insights into the core of our ministry and our evangelistic outreach endeavors. This is your chance to work alongside experienced individuals and receive invaluable on-the-job training

**Key responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Participates in the planning, preparation, and execution of the Center’s programs and activities
- Contributes to the safe and enthusiastic delivery of the Ministry Center operations, hospitality services, and community outreach
- Maintains a positive working relationship with Dease Lake community members, including but not limited to officials, schools, businesses, and churches
- Assists in regular general upkeep and maintenance, as well as light and deep cleaning of the facility
- Provides support in maintaining and nurturing relationship with high needs, high energy, at-risk children and youth to handle potential tensions and traumas

**Qualifications**:

- Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
- Working towards, or completed Post-Secondary Degree, Diploma or courses in First Nation Studies, Community Development, Counselling or another related field is considered an asset
- Previous engagement in a ministry within a First Nations community is considered an asset
- Non-profit or ministry experience is considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Brings insight into First Nations community culture and is capable of developing partnerships with the First Nations and the broader community
- The ability to balance and coordinate multiple tasks and initiatives
- Flexible and adaptable; willing to serve with a positive attitude
- Strong relational skills, and ability to build bridges between different personality types
- Proven ability to work with vulnerable individuals and to create a safe environment for them
- Disciplined self-starter; able to work independently and stay motivated and organized to carry out projects to completion with little supervision
