**Department**: Accounting

- Hotels. The scope of this role has oversight over hotels which are primarily full service hotels and are mainly Marriott and have food and beverage outlets and other QSR and service outlets.
**Controller Responsibilities**:
- Manage, motivate and develop a team - 9 to 10 people including the group Accounts Payable team
- Work closely with other Controllers to ensure that processes are aligned and to compare different business unit operating results for opportunities/synergies
- Oversee the month end process while targeting a tight, accurate month end close
- Lead the monthly Financial Review process with the operations units - tracking Business Plan Objectives and tracking action items and follow-up each month end
- Ensure financial reporting process with a view to having a consistent statements across business units while incorporating KPI’s - for financial Statements, the dashboard reporting and labour KPI reporting
- Develop a high standard of excellence for your team to create culture of cohesive continuous improvement towards accurate, timely financial information, and expand/improve on the information provided to operations to assist them in making better business decisions.
- Identify and implement process changes that would assist in efficiency
- Safeguard company assets by reviewing, monitoring and implementing controls, adopting best practices across all business entities
- Be responsible for oversight on the Year End Audits, reviews and tax filings and deliver in a timely manner
- Work closely with operations to provide critical information to make decisions that will drive revenue, lower costs and improve guest satisfaction
- Lead the budget process with operations to ensure that and budgets that meet the outlet business plan objectives
- Lead the Corporate Accounts Payable Team for timely, controlled processing of payments ; reviewing and recommending processes to ensure controls are effective and efficient
**What you’ll need as a Controller**:
**Experience**: 3+ years’ progressive post-qualification experience ideally in supervisory/leadership capacity
**Certification**:CPA Designation required
**Other Qualifications**:
- Strong management skills to build and grow the finance team and maintain a work environment that promotes employee retention
- Desire to work as a team member in order to grow as a leader
- Demonstrated progressive career growth including experience in managerial position
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel
- Strong business acumen
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within a service oriented or hospitality industry would be an asset.
