The Attorney General is the legal advisor to the government of British Columbia and is charged with ensuring that the administration of public affairs is carried out in accordance with the law. The Ministry of Attorney General is structured to carry out this mandate under the direction of the Attorney General, and Legal Services Branch (LSB) supports the Ministry in fulfilling this mandate by serving as legal advisor to government in civil law matters. LSB provides legal advice to government and ensures that legal risks associated with government operations are reduced. LSB’s clients include all ministries of the government, Cabinet and certain public agencies.
As a Legal Assistant in the Articled Student and Professional Development programs, you provide legal support services to Articled Students for all levels of court such as B.C. Supreme Court, B.C. Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Canada, Federal Court and Administrative Tribunals. You also provide administrative and program support to the Legal Office Manager and Program Manager.

**Job Requirements**:
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
- Completion of a Legal Office Administrative Assistant program from a recognized institution, or equivalent knowledge and experience in a legal environment. Volunteer or work-placement experience is acceptable.
- One year of experience working in an office environment.
- Experienced and proficient with use of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preference may be given to applicants who have experience with and knowledge of:
- BC Online (including Court Services Online, BC Registry Services) and myLTSA;
- Rules of Court regarding document format and preparation, and service of documents;
- Law Society rules, including regarding conflicts and solicitor/client privilege;
- Project Management experience;
- Employee onboarding/orientation experience;
- Public Speaking, Facilitation, and/or Presentation experience.
- One year of experience working in a legal office.
- Experienced and proficient with use of SharePoint sites.
- Experience with legal and other research methodologies and techniques.
