**Join our team The Aphasia Institute is seeking an experienced, and dynamic Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) looking for a unique and exciting role in the community sector.**

The Aphasia Institute is a not-for-profit organization with a collaborative approach and a commitment to teamwork. The organizational structure reflects a community of individuals with aphasia, their families, volunteers, staff, and supporters who are dedicated to reducing language barriers to full-life participation at local, provincial, national, and international levels. We aim to give hope and make a difference to the quality of life and well-being of individuals with aphasia and their families, wherever they may be. We aspire to change society so that communicative access is universally accepted for all those affected by aphasia.
**WHAT IS THE JOB?**
Reporting to the Director, Clinical Services and Education, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will use their professional knowledge to deliver services within a social model of aphasia, ensuring that the needs of program participants are met in a caring, warm, and friendly environment. Our SLPs work with other professionals in a clinical team model to provide assessments and comprehensive programs, as well as volunteers within a mediator model for program delivery. Our clinical staff all contribute to program development, quality improvement and evaluation, as well as our internal research projects.
**Responsibilities of the position include, but may not limited to**:
**Clinical Services**
- Collaborates with the direct service team to develop, plan, and deliver clinical services (assessments, programs, and other interventions) and events, both in-person and virtually, that meet the communicative, physical, social, intellectual, and emotional needs of clients with aphasia and their families
- Provides ongoing volunteer coaching and supervision, and participates in volunteer and internal staff education, which may be recorded in audio or video formats. Delivers quality customer service with the ability to effectively engage and empower clients and caregivers
- Liaises with referral agents and other service providers to provide recommended stroke best practices in person-centered support, as required
- Participates in program evaluations and quality improvement initiatives, and research projects focused on AI programs, resources, and services
**Education, Training and Research, as opportunities present**:
- Participates in professional education and training to develop, evaluate, and deliver high caliber training programs and acts as a liaison between the training and direct service staff
- Supports the development and creation of education and resource products, develops and delivers presentations and webinars to external groups as requested
- Collaborates with staff to promote knowledge exchange, internally and externally
- Supervises and coaches SLP students during their placement at the Aphasia Institute
- Participates in research activities as required
**Qualifications/Experience required**:
**Education**:
- Recognized Speech Language Pathology Degree
**Experience**:
- A minimum of three years’ experience working and communicating with people with aphasia
- Working with volunteers and students and flexibility to adapt to different needs and styles
**Skills**:
- Superior time management and multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with mínimal supervision are essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a range of stakeholders and professional backgrounds
- Ability to build strong relationship skills
- Experience developing presentations and delivering them at conferences and meetings
- Familiar with all AI-developed methods, tools and approaches
- Leadership skills
- Ability to meet competing demands
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills to make effective decisions
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the Aphasia Institute Team
- Excellent writing skills including competence in proper spelling and grammar
- Resourceful, flexible, and well organized
- Experience with adult education/ professional training _an asset_
- Practical research and evaluation experience _an asset_
