The Ministry’s frontline staff are the primary point of contact, providing professional, strategic leadership to external clients to cultivate the growth of the agriculture sector at both regional and provincial levels. ESSB delivers Ministry programs and services through a network of regional Agrologists and industry development specialists.

As the regional resource, the Regional Team Lead provides professional expertise and leadership on coordination and delivery of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food’s programming and provide guidance on complex land use or environmental issues throughout the Lower Mainland region. It is expected that the Regional Team Lead provides technical professional support and leadership to the management of cross-sector issues and works closely with other team leads across ESSB, with industry personnel and their representative bodies, with other Ministry branches, other government departments, and all levels of regional and local government, including First Nations.

**Job Requirements**:

- Degree in Agriculture or a related science, preferably specializing in business, livestock, plant or soils management; AND
- With a Bachelor’s degree, you must have three (3) years of professional experience; OR
- With a Master’s Degree, you must have two (2) years of professional experience.
- Registered as a Professional Agrologist or *immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Agrologist with the British Columbia Institute of Agrologists (BCIA).
- Note: immediately eligible is defined as being registered as a professional Agrologist in another Canadian jurisdiction and being able to transfer that membership to the BCIA within 6 months of employment. It is the responsibility of the applicant to have the BCIA reviews their qualifications to ensure they have the necessary requirements for registration.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ of demonstrated experience addressing the economic, environmental and/or social constraints of the agriculture and food sector, preferably in BC.
- Two (2) years of considerable experience leading teams and being accountable for managing assigned resources, meeting goals and achieving results.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:

- Demonstrated operational experience with intensive agriculture.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary issues involved in agriculture and natural resource sector.
- Experience interpreting and then implementing local government, provincial and federal legislation, policies, priorities and programs of importance to the agriculture and food sector in the region.
- Experience supervising technical and/or professional staff.

Provisos:

- Valid B.C. driver’s licence.
- Meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.
- Conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

**About this Position**:
This is a temporary opportunity until July 1, 2024. This temporary opportunity may become permanent.
This temporary opportunity is located in Abbotsford, BC.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
