Under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager (ESM), ensures a clean, sanitary and safe home-like environment, within an interdisciplinary, resident-focused team.

**REPORTING RELATIONSHIP**: Reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager

**REQUIRMENTS/ SKILLS **(not limited to)**:
REQUIRED: Grade 12 graduate or equivalent combinations of education and experience

REQUIRED: Current Vulnerable Sector Check, not more than 6 months old

REQUIRED: COVID Vaccinated (2 Doses plus Booster)

PREFERRED: Prior knowledge/experience of housekeeping operations and equipment in Long Term Care Setting.

PREFERRED: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Language. Competence in computer knowledge an asset

PREFERRED: Second Language, Current WHIMIS certification, Fall Protection certifications.

Physically capable of performing all assigned duties within a flexible work schedule required for a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation.

Ability to work in multi-disciplinary team environment.

Demonstrated enthusiasm, flexibility and ability to adapt productively to changes in the work environment

**Physical Working Conditions**: Extended periods of time at work standing, rapid movement, operating medium weight cleaning equipment such as sweeping and mopping floors etc. Manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance are required. Ability to comfortably bend, stoop, twist and turn, climb stairs etc. Ability to perform repetitious arm and wrist movements.

**Environmental Conditions**: contact with potentially dangerous and toxic cleaning products with unpleasant odors. May be required to clean up bodily fluids.

**TASK DESCRIPTION**

Is directly accountable for all duties identified on the cleaner work routine assigned by the Environmental Services Manager.

Performs duties including but not limited to: floor maintenance programs, deep cleaning programs, carbonizing, waste management and transportation of clean and soiled linens.

Ensures daily, the neatness and cleanliness of resident’s living rooms and common areas including but not limited to rooms and equipment including; furniture, clothes closets, mobility devices, tub/bathrooms, and utility rooms

Adheres to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines when using cleaning products, moving furniture, and equipment to clean areas and rooms. Identifies risks and reports them immediately to Environmental Services Manager

Ensures all duties are carried out in a manner which does not cause risk of injury to residents and staff.

Participates in The Home's employee programs for WHMIS, Quality Improvement, Health and Safety, and education

**Salary**: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
