**JOB SYNOPSIS**:
Under the guidance and supervision of the General Manager, the Hummingbird Lodge & Campground Manager will supervise and lead all aspects of day to day operations of the Lodge, including management of the rental suite, campground and trail network.

The Hummingbird Lodge and Campground Manager’s primary role is to provide an exceptional experience. The purpose of this role is to effectively and efficiently manage the direction of this new business, resulting in high quality resort operations and customer service, fiscal responsibility, strong health and safety culture, and compliance with all government regulations, with a continued focus on Whitewater’s company culture and branding.

Fostering strong working relationships will be key as this role will support and work alongside the Management team and in close collaboration with the VP of Development on achieving Whitewater’s strategic master plan.

Key areas of responsibility include driving revenue to the operation with reservations, event planning, retail, rental and food & beverage sales. Ensuring profitability of the operation will be a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) which include, inventory controls, guest and lodge management, safety, and fiscal performance throughout the operation. As the lodge manager, you will identify trends and recommend improvements to the operation.

**SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Embrace and promote Whitewater’s mission statement and values.
- Partner with senior resort management to set yearly goals that align with the company's overall strategic plan.
- Manage and report on Whitewater’s KPI’s ensuring organizational goals are met.
- Develop, direct, business plans and strategies to attain long-range operational goals with the focus being on effective management and growth of the Hummingbird Lodge and Campground.
- Produce and manage a departmental budget, outlining financial goals and objectives to improve performance.
- Ensure the resort fosters a culture of safety by developing and implementing operating controls, standard operating policies, training manuals, and service standards.
- Exemplifies the integrity, leadership, management, ability, work ethic and professionalism that are needed to maintain the service standards, employee standards and profitability of the Resort.
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet operational requirements by supporting recruitment, terminations, and performance management.
- Leads, develops and monitors the performance of direct reports, ensuring they are performing and functioning as a team in the attainment of the Resort’s plans, goals, objectives and standards.
- Champion a sustainable approach in daily operations, planning, and development.
- Accountable for ensuring all operational standards are achieved.
- Manage daily operations of lodge and campground; inclusive of facility, equipment, guest service, risk management, and associated regulations.
- Create a welcoming, educational, and social environment for the backcountry community
- Promote Whitewater’s safety culture by reviewing and amending where necessary but not limited to: Department Manual, CDPP, Employee Handbook.
- Develop, implement, and manage an emergency response plan, health and safety plan and safe work procedures
- Ensure staff are knowledgeable in safety protocols, customer relations, sales procedures and product knowledge to deliver outstanding customer experience.
- Ensure Food and Beverage standards are compliant with licensing laws and regulations, for both staff and patrons, as well all health and safety and other government mandates.
- Document equipment start-up/shut down procedures and develop a manual of practices and procedures. Procurement of supplies and equipment for the Lodge.
- Accountable for effective waste management (garbage/recycling/composting) and pest control
- Report all maintenance issues to ensure safety of the lodge in a timely manner
- Work with department supervisors and managers to ensure that resort standards are met for marketing, guest services, retail, rentals, food and beverage, facility maintenance, janitorial, trail maintenance and condition and hazard reporting
- Monitor and respond according to the Campground Management Plan to the presence of wildlife within the campground and trail system.
- Manage the sale and distribution of or fire wood to guests within the campground.
- Other duties as assigned

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION**:

- Degree or Diploma in Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management, Tourism Management Diploma, hospitality, ski industry, or related field.
