Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation for machining operations
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications
- Troubleshoot issues with machines or equipment as they arise
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
**Skills**:
- Experience operating milling machines, lathes, and other machining equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and engineering specifications
- Familiarity with power tools used in machining operations
- Strong mathematical skills for performing calculations and measurements
- Understanding of machining principles and techniques
- Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
