Carpenter Roofer

**Job brief**

We are looking for an experienced carpenter/roofer with a minimum of 3 years experience to join our team. Must have a good working knowledge of general carpentry skills such as roofing, drawing up plans, taking measurements, sourcing materials, preparing estimates, installing insulation and vapor barriers, kitchen cabinets, window and door installation, decks, flooring, and various other renovations.

To succeed in this role, you should have the ability to use hand and power tools, and also stand on ladders and scaffolding. You’ll also know how to handle materials (e.g. wood, asphalt and steel) for different roofing and carpentry styles and tasks. Training for some tasks will be provided on site.

**Responsibilities**
- New roof installation using various materials and tools
- Deliver projects within a specified timeline
- Repair or replace broken materials
- Remove debris from roofs to install new materials
- Smooth roof surfaces and fill in edges
- Use hand tools and other equipment (e.g. scaffold, ladder)
- Follow safety rules
- Installing wooden structures such as roofing framers, joists, partitions, rafters, and stud work
- Designing and installation of cabinets, shelves, drywall, and insulation
- Adding fittings and fixtures including door handles, hinges, locks, and closures
- Reading blueprints and designs prepared by other architects, construction professionals, and ensuring they meet building code recommendations and requirements.

**Requirements and skills**
- Valid driver’s license, safety equipment (Steel toe boots) and own transportation
- Must be reliable, punctual and have the ability to work well with others
- Ability to execute given tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Experience as a roofer or a similar role in construction
- Excellent carpentry skills
- Experience using various hand tools and equipment, scaffolding, taking safety rules into consideration
- Physical strength and good balance
- Ability to work at heights for long hours
- Ability to use hand and power tools, including drills, saws, nail guns, chisels, and sanders
- Cabinet making or joinery skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of building regulations and codes

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

**Salary**: $18.00-$30.00 per hour
