The City of Penticton is looking to fill the position of **Parks Irrigation Serviceperson (Seasonal) **in our **Parks Department**. The Parks branch of Public Works is responsible for the development, operation and maintenance of the parks, beaches, sports fields, trails and cemeteries within our community.

Reporting to the Horticulture Foreman, the **Parks** **Irrigation Serviceperson** performs tasks in the day-to-day operation, maintenance and installation of City parks irrigation systems, including ornamental fountains and waterparks, to meet or exceed the City of Penticton standards.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Program and adjust irrigation system controllers including central control systems.
- Repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and numerous types of sprinkler heads and fixtures.
- Replaces or repairs irrigation valves.
- Installs and/or repairs irrigation lines.
- Assists in various maintenance activities as required.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Tracks changes made to the irrigation system either using digital (GIS) or manual tools (red lining drawings)
- Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
- Certified Irrigation Technician Level 2, Irrigation Industry Association of British Columbia, or equivalent.
- Completion of recognized courses or certification relating to irrigation design, construction and maintenance, and relating to horticulture or landscape maintenance, is preferred.
- Cross Connection Certification, BCWWA or equivalent, is preferred.
- Valid BC Driver's License - Class 5 required; air endorsement preferred.
