**THE OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join our Environmental Services team in the position of **Linen Control**. Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager and the Environmental Services Supervisor, the Linen Control crewmember plays a crucial role in upholding a high standard of hygiene and patient care. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of the hospital by ensuring the timely and effective distribution of clean linen. Responsibilities include managing and distributing linens throughout GBGH and ensuring that all departments remain adequately stocked.
Job Requirements:
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Coordinate the receipt, storage, and distribution of linens throughout the hospital, including isolation gowns.
- Pick up soiled linen and ensure its proper handling.
- Wash delicate items as required.
- Respond to phone messages throughout the shift.
- Maintain linen inventories at appropriate levels to meet departmental needs, adjusting orders as needed.
- Collaborate with laundry service providers to ensure timely processing and delivery of linens.
- Accurately monitor linen for quality and condition, identifying and addressing any issues with repairs, replacements, and/or service providers.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Work with hospital departments to fulfill linen requests and ensure a continuous supply.
- Participate in audits and assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of linen control processes.
- Deliver and organize scrubs to departments, ensuring appropriate sizing and rotation of quantities.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Prepare linen carts upon request and monitor their safety, informing suppliers and tagging any carts that require repair.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.
- Effective communication skills in English (both written and verbal) to follow instructions, read product labels, procedure manuals, and to interact effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation of linen usage, deliveries, and inventory levels.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, identify problems, and effectively plan and schedule work.
- Proven customer service skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other team members and service providers.
- Ability to work independently, adhering to specific procedures and schedules.
- Physical capability to push, pull, and lift clean and soiled linens up to 50 lbs.
- Basic proficiency in using computerized technology, including tablets, for tracking, managing assignments and ordering linen daily.
- Ability to operate a commercial washer and dryer.
- Familiarity in handling various types of linens for processing and delivery.

**HOURS OF WORK**
Permanent Full Time. Regularly scheduled for day shift, Monday - Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.

- Hourly rate of pay $25.72-26, vacation accrual starting at two (2) weeks per year.
