**FIBER PLANNER**

**Responsibilities**
- Utilize AutoCAD or other customer specified software to large fiber designs, node segmentations and passive optical network fiber designs.
- Produce consistent and high quality FTTH/S (Fiber-to-the-home/suite designs/splice packages) and/or drafts using Spatial Net.
- Process change orders to ensure that all related work is completed, accurate and all related documentation is acquired and routed properly.
- Perform quality control checks on field mapping notes and/or map digitizing to ensure all drafting and design specifications have been met.
- Provide accurate information on splice packages, design maps, BOM's, and/or digital files to construction or maintenance personnel as required.
- Works closely with client and internal representatives on large scale and complex projects with upmost care to not impact the integrity of the network at any time.
- Leads, mentors and coaches junior fiber design staff.
- Drafts and designs new plant extension and as-builts utilizing the client specific software.
- Updates Fiber Design databases and maintains system maps including base map, cable, fiber routes, addresses.
- Provides drawings and details in both CAD based platforms and other media to determine and displace design criteria.
- Incorporates filed and as-built changes from draft prints to the system database.
- Communicates with the permit department and coordinators in order to gather and provide accurate information with regards to construction design.
- Determine method to design the plant changes with mínimal impact to the system/customer and minimize related construction cost and ensures quality of design.
- Works closely with GIS, CAD Staff, Project Coordinators and other internal resources to execute projects within a timely fashion, whilst maintaining budgetary restraints.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of 3+ years working with fiber design or other utility design software such as Spatial Net, Fiber Smith, suite of Arc GIS products and other related planning software.
- Experience with Fiber to the Home, Centralized and Distributed splitting architecture, splicing and other aspects and technology of fiber networks.
- Understanding of fiber splicing design best practices.
- Experience with Splicing design for Forced relocate projects, transport circuits, wireless sites, fiber augmentation and FTTH projects.
- Exposure to CWDM and DWDM.
- Can demonstrate how technical components of a passive optical network function and what their purpose is.
- A thirst for knowledge, technology driven and savvy and a strong willingness to learn through solving complex challenges.
- Experience in planning, designing and coordinating large network architecture projects and cutovers.
- College Diploma in a GIS or Engineering based program.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good analytical skills and good judgement.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Working Knowledge of AutoCAD, Spatial Net and other GIS/Spatial platforms.
- Able to operate effectively in a fast-paced and highly energetic environment.
- Must have excellent supervision skills and self-disciplined.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, team player and adaptable.
- Experience with outside plant (OSP) design of utilities (i.e., electric, gas, telecom, fiber optics).
- Working knowledge of Aerial and Underground designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of CSA, ESA, and Regulation 22.04 a plus.
- Past experience within a telecommunication & LDC company or Engineering Consultant.
