**Camp Counselor (Specialist: Bushcraft) - RISE Regenerative Farm & Forest Camp**
Provenance Farms is a regenerative smart farm on 46 acres near Woodstock Ontario who focuses on animal welfare, environment and soil health, food quality, as well as social welfare through the donation of 11% to food banks. It was co-founded by Andrew and Eliana Witchell.
This year the farm is expanding _**RISE Regenerative Farm & Forest Camp**_, an outdoor full-day program focused on offering campers the opportunity to get outside, make friends, learn about regenerative farming and farming science, build outdoor skills, appreciate nature and have fun. Camp programming is anchored in geology, ecology, regenerative farm practices, STEAM, outdoor skills, and nature appreciation and will encourage campers to be curious and creative.
At our Outdoor Children's Summer Camp, we embody the 5 'E's of Eco-Action: Empathy, Education, Environmental Stewardship, Excitement, and Empowerment. Additionally, we prioritize Eco-Autonomy over Eco-Anxiety, empowering our campers with the skills and positivity needed to become self-reliant stewards of the environment. **What we are looking for**:a friendly, child-engaging, reliable individual who can develop and deliver programming related to bushcraft and our regenerative farming process (training provided). This individual must engage with the children, ensure they make friends and connect with nature, while also representing the farm. Must have outdoor experience (bushcraft, camping, outdoor skills) with specific knowledge of the 5 pillars of survival.
This position would be full time for 7 weeks through July and August, with potential to extend to March Break, PA days, and school field trip programming throughout the year.
**Job Overview**:
Is a part of the team running the RISE Regenerative Farm & Forest Summer Day Camps.
Has responsibilities for program planning related to:
- Bushcraft skills
- Forest and nature appreciation
- Encouraging risky adventurous play and building survival/ risk assessment skills with campers.
- Delivers regenerative farming demonstrations and encourages camper engagement (training provided)
Leads approximately 20 campers (1 counselor to 7 camper ratio) per week ranging from 6 to 12 years of age, while also supervising and teaching the Leadership In Training program (kids aged 13-15 years old).
Through strategic leadership and programming, enables children and youth to make friends, develop skills, socialize and build self-esteem. Accountable for day-to-day operations under the guidance of the Directors, ensuring camp activities are safe, educational, inclusive, high quality and meets RISE Regenerative Farm & Forest Camp overall goals and abides by relevant policies and legislation.
**Responsibilities**
- Prioritizes child well-being, safety and protection throughout the camp(s). Evaluates situations for potential risks to the safety, protection and well-being of campers and staff, proactively taking mitigating actions to address such risks. (dynamic risk assessments and daily risk evaluations across site)
- Develops and leads nature appreciation, outdoor skills, and bushcraft programming.
- Participates in the planning of the camp season.
- Facilitates daily camp activities, ensuring programming is effective and adapted to camper needs with regards to safety, hygiene, weather, breaks etc.
- Helps facilitate Leadership in Training program alongside other counselors. The specialist bushcraft counselor is exclusively responsible for delivering the bushcraft skills for LIT's.
- Acts as a leader role model, fostering a positive learning environment where people feel included as members of a team and are motivated to work towards common goals.
- Provides regular updates and feedback to the Directors
**Requirements**:
- Must be available to work July 2 - August 23, Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, excluding holidays. (Mandatory paid training July 2-5.).
- Must have demonstrable outdoor experience (bushcraft, camping, outdoor skills) with specific knowledge of the 5 pillars of survival.
- Must have experience with kids and or camp.
- General interest in farming/outdoors/ecology.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR ‘C’ required;
- Up to date Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Driver’s license is required;
