Dietary Aide

**Position Summary**:
The Dietary Aide/Food Service Worker is responsible for table set-up and clearing, delivery and service of food and beverages for all meals, dish and pot washing, general cleaning of the kitchen, kitchenette, and servery, and proper storage of food items and supplies. The Dietary Aide/Food Service Worker may also be required to assist the Cook in some aspects of meal preparation. These duties and responsibilities shall be conducted in accordance with the mission and vision statement, policies, procedures, and work routines of the facility always respecting residents’ rights.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
Within the established policies of the corporation, the Dietary Aide/Food Service Worker will:
a. assist the Cook and/or other Dietary Aide/Food Service Workers in required preparation and portioning of food and beverages;
b. transport food and all food supplies to designated areas;
c. prepare dining areas for meals which includes setting and clearing of tables, arranging tables and chairs, maintain required supplies in dining areas;
d. portion and/or serve meals including special diets;
e. prepare nourishment's as required;
f. be aware of residents’ dietary requirements and maintain accuracy in food production levels;
g. clean kitchen and dining rooms, including floors, as required;
h. collect and clean all pans, dishes and utensils from dining areas and return them to their proper storage area;
i. clean and sanitize all food and dish carts and return them to their proper storage area;
j. complete quality assurance audits and monitor results;
k. receive incoming food items and put away incoming stock, stock rotation;
l. daily operation and maintenance of dish washing machine;
m. practice proper sanitation and food handling procedures at all times;
n. adhere to all policies and procedures pertaining to the operation of the facility in regard to: infection control; health and safety; personnel practices; internal and external emergencies; residents’ rights; confidentiality;

**Qualifications Required**:
a. grade 12 or equivalent education;
b. be a graduate of, or enrolled in, the Healthcare Food Service Worker Certificate Program from an approved college;
c. have formal and/or on-the-job training in quantity food preparation, cooking, food and equipment safety and sanitation;
d. be flexible and able to work to deadlines;
e. demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills;
f. be able to physically perform the duties and responsibilities assigned.

g. Current food handlers certificate
